Operation Rootform - Your Donations
Like many, I donate to charities and causes I believe in, even when it challenges my own views, like supporting the RSPCA despite my dislike for rodents (mice, rats).
What does piss me off frustrate me is the RSPCA's patron, King Charles III—owner of multiple estates and helicopters, actively supports and participates in hunts and blood sports. How does that align with preventing animal cruelty?
So here's my predicament. Do I stop giving the RSPCA my donations because I don't agree with Hoorah Henry's and Sloan Rangers shooting beautiful pheasants in the face, or do I think of the greater good and the animals that could be saved with my £100?
I’m calling my campaign, Operation Rootform. Why? Because we who genuinely respect nature and the environment know that plants and trees need strong healthy roots to survive and flourish, a good analogy being our Scottish Independence grass roots movement.
It’s a campaign to empower donors to demand transparency and conditions on their contributions, much like nurturing strong roots for a thriving plant—or our Scottish Independence grassroots movement.
My Money. My Donation. My choice.
Anyone donating to a cause has a choice. It was my £10, I gave it to you its now yours to do what you want
OR
It was my £10, I gave it to you, it's now yours to do what you want BUT I dont want you to save rats and mice - do you see what I mean?
Under the UK's Political Parties, Elections and Referendums Act 2000 (PPERA), donations are unconditional gifts. Once accepted, parties can use them as they see fit, within spending limits. Refunds are rare and voluntary, but if misled, donors can complain to the Electoral Commission.
So where do you stand with your donations?
Did you stipulate any conditions on the donation?
Are you sure you made the right choice?
Did you complain to the charity or cause?
Have you asked nicely for a refund?
